The land of Word World is goofy and filled with animals shaped like their names. For example, the resident frog is animated in the shape of the letters F-R-O-G, and everything else in the show’s realm is composed of letters as well.
It is a sweet and quiet show appropriate if you’re concerned about your kids watching things that are too action-packed. The animals in this show help each other and model good friendship behavior.
The music styles are more varied than most kids shows, and mercifully none of it is the kind that gets stuck in your head for an entire afternoon to drive you mad :)
Bear, Frog, Sheep, Cat and others have adventures like searching for a missing letter ‘O’ and helping a baby bird always with a clear emphasis on encouraging literacy. And yes, this is an educational DVD, but there are no moments when it gets preachy or boring — my kids were constantly entertained.
My boys are 2, 4 and 5 and they all enjoy watching Word World. The show debuts on PBS Kids September 3, and I recommend you give it a try.
